Counselors Get Social: Using Social Media to Connect with Your Students

Audience:  Focused primarily on the secondary side of the desk, but may be of interest to others.

Presenter:  Nichole Renee Mitchell, College & Career Counselor, Norristown Area High School
(For context, NAHS is a public, suburban high school outside of Philadelphia with a student population that is highly diverse, both racially and socioeconomically.)

*Reminder: As with all PACAC presentations, the inclusion of any presenter (vendor, college, etc.) is not an endorsement by PACAC or any representative thereof.*

Description:  Its already difficult to engage students during the school year, and COVID has made it that much harder. Now more than ever, social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are vital conduits to bridge the communication gap between counselors and families. Whether you have 5,000 followers on Twitter or are just a snooper on Facebook, this workshop will help you learn specific and simple ways to better engage your students and parents.

(Please note: This will be an interactive workshop. Come prepared to participate and add your experience and ideas to the group.)

When: Thursday, November 5th, 10am-11:30am EST

Cost:  FREE for PACAC Members. Non-Members: $10
