Welcome to PACAC

Welcome to the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling website, the best resource for professionals, students, and families regarding transitioning to post-secondary opportunities. PACAC is a professional organization dedicated to encouraging, advocating, and promoting equal access to post secondary education; fostering communication among students, families, professionals, and institutions; and facilitating professional development. Within the guidelines, professional policies and positions of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), PACAC promotes the worth and dignity of individuals through educational programs that contribute to the growth and well being of a changing society.

Our membership is engaged and enthusiastic, focused on helping the students of Pennsylvania research, define, access, and pursue post-secondary opportunities. Our standing committees work diligently to ensure the membership is being best served. Committee work is a wonderful way to get involved with PACAC, and I encourage you to do so. Information about all standing committees is available on this website.

This year, as we look to move our association forward in our mission of providing access to all Pennsylvania students, we also reflect on the many beneficial things we already do. The Executive Committee of PACAC will focus on continuing to increase the diversity of our membership in all ways, examining how we might better market ourselves as the number one resource for all issues regarding the transition to post-secondary options, and whether a formal partnership with other state associations similarly focused on access in education would benefit our membership.

As a secondary school counselor, I can state unequivocally that becoming involved in PACAC is the most rewarding professional practice I have experienced. PACAC events educate and invigorate me; membership to the association has allowed me to develop a widespread network of colleagues, and friends. Their advice is invaluable to me professionally and personally. It is an honor to be able to serve the association that has given so much to me.

I encourage all of you to actively participate in PACAC, for we are only as good as our membership enables us to be. Your input as members is vital to our success, and I hope you will feel free to contact Maria DeCrosta, PACAC’s Executive Assistant, or me directly, with comments, questions, reflections and insights. If you are interested in becoming more involved, please let us know. We will make sure you are provided the chance to do so.
